A school bus full of school supplies for low income children was the end result of the Stuff the Bus Collection on Saturday in the parking lot of Walmart on East Chestnut Street.

United Way Executive Director Nicole Mader said it was an “amazing collection again.”

Mader said at the end of the collection period that the bus was overstuffed. “We had the seats full, we have the aisles full. It was a blessing day.’ It was the second consecutive successful Saturday for the Stuff the Bus project.

Mader noted that on the first Saturday of Stuff the Bus one week ago for example, more than 1,000 boxes of crayons were donated and more than 200 style notebooks. She expects the amount donated yesterday ( Saturday ) to be even better.

The school supplies will be seperated and counted out, and then delivered to the schools on August 10-11. Mader added they want the supplies to be available to the students on the first day of school, August 15.
