The Junction City Brigade defeated the Topeka Golden Giants 4-2 Wednesday evening in Topeka to capture their first Mid-Plains League baseball playoff series two games to none.

Junction City ( 23-11 ) will now advance to the meet the winner of the Rossville – Sabetha series in the second round of the playoffs. Rossville won the first game of that series but the second game was rained out. The teams are scheduled to play game two Thursday night in Rossville.
