Members of the public and pilots from across the country turned out in strong numbers for the sixth annual National Biplane Fly-in at Freeman Field in Junction City.
One of the coordinators Marvin Hornbostel, felt the Fly-In went well, and may have been the best one in the six-year history of this event in Junction City.
Speaking on Saturday Hornbostel said, “Biplanes have come in good. We had probably 50 or 60 early this morning.” He also estimated another 50 to 60 monoplanes were flown in for the event as well. ” I think we’ve done real good. The support from the local community here has just been fabulous.”
There were opportunities for plane rides, a chance to view the planes on the tarmac and visit with the pilots, enjoy breakfast or lunch, and purchase merchandise. There were also carriage rides.
