Coach Ladd Braden, “We had another great day with both the boy’s and girl’s squads. Senior Zack Melius came back after two hamstring pulls to take the Wheat State League 200 meter dash gold, for the fourth straight year! Senior Sara Casaus did the same in the 100 meter dash, taking the gold for her fourth straight league title in that event as well. In the pole vault and the 800 meter run, the Bomber boys swept both events, taking first, second, and third. In the 200, 400, and the 3200 meter runs, the Bombers took first and second in all three of those running events. Junior Jacob Judy took the gold in the discus for the second straight year. Junior Sierra Otto fought off two tough competitors in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles to take home both of those gold medals today. Freshman Kevin Jackson competed hard for the bronze medal in the 800 meter run and freshman Sydney Barker with a personal best run, took the bronze in the girl’s open 800 meter also.” Coach Braden, “ We simply had several kids step up to the plate today. Junior Chris Hardin is a great example of this. Chris came into the triple jump today with a ninth place seeding, and came away with the third place bronze medal to help the Bombers take home their third straight Wheat State League Track and Field title!”
Wakefield’s next meet will be Friday May 20th when the Bombers travel to Frankfort for the 1A Regional Track and Field Meet. Starting time will be 1:00 p.m. with all the field events.
