After a hectic early week that included multiple fire calls, the Geary County Rural Fire Department only had to respond to one call over the weekend.
Rural Fire Chief Garry Berges reported that firefighters did go to the K-57 area south of Burley Hill where a fire from earlier in the week was still smoldering in a ravine. There was no major damage and no injuries.
Berges estimated earlier in the week that the largest blaze of the week on Tuesday burned about 6,000 acres in southeast Geary County.
