An Eastern Kansas Veteran’s Administration spokesman confirmed Friday that the VA is preparing to undertake a project to build a new community based outpatient clinic on the south side of Junction City.

The purchase of the land site on the new 10,000 square foot building near the Southwind Drive – Sandusky intersection has been completed.

Joseph Burks, Public Affairs spokesman, confirmed the proposed name for the facility would be the Lieutenant General Richard J. Seitz Rural Health Clinic. The facility would be for an expansion of services by the VA in Junction City, and would replace an existing clinic of approximately 3,400 square feet in size at 715 Southwind Drive.

A late summer – early groundbreaking time is possible. A 2017 opening is projected for the new facility.
