Dorothy Bramlage Public Library officials are working with architects on a concept design to expand the library at 230 West 7th Street.
Library Director Susan Moyer discussed the initial concept design. “Shows us basically pushing the Library through most of the existing lot, basically squaring off the building, and then also pushing east through that strip parking lot that runs in between the Municipal Building and the Library.”
Moyer said that would give the library 26,000 square feet of space, well above the current space of about 14,000 square feet.
“Right now we’re continuing to work on the design with the architect.” Moyer added when the basic concept is done they’ll begin doing the interior design work.
A cost estimate is not yet available, but Moyer confirmed they are looking at private donations, and potentially grants or other types of assistance to finance the project. They are not looking at pursuing public funding.
City Commission approval would also be needed for the project.
