KANSAS CITY -The Big 12 Basketball Tournament opens Wednesday in Kansas City.
Two-time defending Big 12 Conference tournament champion Iowa State is going into this season’s tournament as the No. 6 seed.
No. 1 Kansas is the No. 1 seed after clinching its 12th consecutive regular-season title. No. 10 West Virginia wrapped up second place with a 69-58 win at No. 19 Baylor on Saturday.
On Wednesday at 6 p.m. eighth-seeded Kansas State takes on ninth-seeded Oklahoma State, with the winner advancing to play the Jayhawks on Thursday.
Seventh-place Texas Tech takes on last-place TCU, with the winner moving on to play the Mountaineers.
In the other quarterfinal games Thursday, Iowa State takes on third-seeded Oklahoma; and fourth-place Texas takes on No. 5 seed Baylor.
