Fire Danger Concerns and Scattered Storms to Start the Week

The main weather concerns for the start of the week are fire danger and thunderstorm chances, according to the National Weather Service of Topeka. For today, expect breezy south winds with gusts of 30-40mph and dry conditions in north central KS as a dryline extends into the area during the afternoon hours. As a result, there is Very High Fire Danger for this afternoon across north central KS. Scattered thunderstorms should develop by this evening (possibly as early as late this afternoon) and continue into the overnight hours, mainly southeast of a Marysville to Minneapolis line. There is a small chance for a few strong to severe storms with hail and strong wind gusts being the main hazards. Additional scattered thunderstorms are expected Tuesday through Tuesday night (especially across eastern KS), bringing some much-needed rain to the area. Cannot rule out the possibility of a few stronger storms during the afternoon and early evening hours.FileL (3)
