Geary County rural firefighters worked a pair of small grass fires on Saturday.

There were no injuries, and no major property damage.

Rural Fire Chief Garry Berges stated one occurred along Britt Road two miles southwest of Junction City near railroad tracks. “A guy had been doing some burning, and part of it got away from him. We got that knocked down in about 10 minutes. ”

Berges said as soon as that was fire was extinguished they received a call on a fire in a residential yard on K-18 about one-half mile east of the Geary – Dickinson County line. “Our trucks responded to that, got that one pretty well knocked down.”
