Jeff Longbine, Emporia, wants to serve another term in the Kansas Senate representing the 17th Distrrict. He confirmed for JC Post Thursday that he plans to seek reelection.

The Republican discussed one big priority for him if he serves another term. “Well qwe’ve got to get our budget in line. That’s my absolute number one priority. ”

Longbine noted that the Senate recently approved a Governor’s budget adjustment, and he voted no it. “Because once again it has virtually no ending balance. It’s usually one time money. It’s using fee sweeps, additional money coming out of transportation.”

Longbine said he could not support budgets without fiscal security in them.

Democrat Susan Fowler, Emporia, has filed for election to the 17th District seat. That district includes Lyon County, part of Geary County including Junction City, and parts of Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee counties.
