The Junction City Blue Jays ( 6-8 ) used a balanced scoring attack and stingy defense to defeat the Topeka High Trojans ( 6-8 ) 56-50 in the Trojans’ gym, called ‘The Dungeon.”
T. J. Poole led the Blue Jays with 15 points and Reggie Topps poured in 10 for Junction City in the victory.
Blue Jay coach Pat Battle felt his team played well. “It was a real tough, great win. We had to do some adjustments on the fly. And we played a variety of different defenses tonight.” Battle added he was proud of his players. “They threw a triangle and two at us. We know it’s been coming on T. J. and Ricardo ( Erans ). We did a good job of executing what we planned to do against a triangle and two ( defense ).”
