Junction City police are conducting an investigation into a possible explosive device at the Geary County Historical Museum.
There have been no injuries. Police have cordoned off the 6th and Adams area near the museum, and have evacuated the museum itself.
A Fort Riley bomb squad was brought in to assist with the investigation.
Junction City police detective sergeant Trish Giordano said, It was undetermined whether it was live or a training grenade and it was taken into custody by Fort Riley EOD as a precaution.”
The grenade was discovered inside the museum, and police were called to the scene about 11 a.m. As a precaution the building was evacuated, and the streets in the 6th and Adams area near the museum were blocked off. As of 12:30 p.m. the streets and the museum had been reopened.
