The Junction City Blue Jays turned in a strong performance on defense enroute to a 52-44 boys basketball victory over Dodge City ( 0-1 ) Saturday afternoon.

Blue Jay coach Pat Battle said a big difference from the team’s loss to Salina Central Friday night was that Junction City executed. “Played basic basketball, we shared the ball better, we found the open guy, and we got some runouts in transition. Our defense created some offense tonight a little bit to.”

Ricardo Erans led the Blue Jays with 16 points as they evened their season record at 1-1.

In the girls varsity contest Dodge City ( 1-0 ) jumped out to an 8-0 lead and went on to defeat the Lady Jays 67-35.  Alana Kramer and A’kia Fain both had six points for Junction City.

The Lady Jays fell to 0-2 with the loss.
