The Junction City Police Department is warning citizens of another phone scam.
According to a press release from the JCPD they have received
numerous calls from citizens reportedly receiving phone calls from persons identifying themselves as IRS agents. The subjects are telling the person that receives the call that they owe back taxes and that if they do not send payment right away that they will be arrested.
The JCPD warns this is a scam and to not send any money or give any personal information to the subject. This is not the way that the IRS collects on taxes owed.
With the holidays approaching the JCPD is reminding citizens that more of these scams may present themselves and that you should use common sense when being contacted.
If you feel that you have been a victim of a scam contact the JCPD at 785-762-5912 to make a report.
