Property tax statements in Geary County will be mailed out November 19 instead of this past Friday ( Nov. 13 ) as originally scheduled.

Geary County Treasurer Kathy Tremont said the reason for the delay is due to the discovery of property descriptions missing from some of the data. ” I would rather be proactive and fix the problem rather than sending incomplete information, and be subjected to influx of both in office traffic and telephone inquiries.”

Tremont explained, “Once we started processing some of our statements we realized that some of the descriptions of the watercraft are not on the tax bills. So instead of sending them out and dealing with all the concerns obviously and anything else, we thought that we’d take care of the problem before they went out.”

Again….property tax statements are set to be mailed on the 19th of November.
