Junction City Blue Jay head football coach Randall Zimmerman has been named the 2016 head coach for the West team in the Kansas Shrine Bowl All-Star football game.

The 43rd annual Kansas Shrine Bowl will be played on Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Emporia at Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.

Returning for his seventh Shrine Bowl, Zimmerman has been coaching for 29 years, including 22 seasons at Junction City High School. His current Blue Jay football team is 8-0.

Zimmerman served as an assistant coach for the West team last summer, and has two previous stints as a head coach in the Shrine Bowl game.

Blake Pierce of Topeka Seaman High School will serve as the 2016 head coach for the East team in the Shrine Bowl.
