airplane clip artEAA Chapter 1364 will be offering free airplane rides to kids from 5th grade through the age of 17 at the Wing Nuts Kids Aviation Education Program on Saturday, oct. 10, from 9 a.m. until noon.

The Flint Hills EAA CHapter 1364 is presenting “The Wing Nuts Youth Aviation Education Program.”

This is a program where young people can learn about aviation by working hands on restoring a Piper TriPacer under the guidance of adult Chapter mentors and FAA licensed technicians.

You can participate in flight training in a full motion flight simulator and an actual flight experience is available through the EAA Young Eagles Program.

The sessions are 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of every month at the EAA Hangar on Freeman Field, Junction City Airport, 18th & jackson.

Participants can include anyone currently in the fifth grade through high school. There is no cost to participate. All costs are covered by EAA Chapter 1364 and supported by a grant from the Don Dodge Fund of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation.

It costs nothing to fly. Young Eagle flight expenses are covered by the volunteer EAA member pilots. Parent or guardian signature is required for Young Eagle Flights. There is no formal sign up or registration to participate in Wing Nuts. Just attend ready to learn, and you can bring your parent or guardian if they would like to attend.
