Junction City and Geary County will be sending a delegation to Washington D.C. for next weeks Association of the United States Army annual meeting.
John Seitz, Junction City Military Affairs Council Director explained
that for the lack of better words AUSA is a “lobbying group” and represents the needs and views of the Army to Congress and others who need to hear about it.
When explaining why it’s important for the Junction City delegation to attend Seitz compared it to the Community Listening Session held this past February.
“It’s important to show up and be counted. If people don’t see you, they forget about you,” said Seitz. “For our group that’s going this year, it’s an opportunity for them to spend some time in the Congressional offices. Make the needs of the community known and get information to bring back, it’s a two-way street there.”
Junction City representatives attending include Mayor Mick McCallister, Commissioner Phyllis Fitzgerald, City Manager Allen Dinkel, Chamber CEO Dennis Beson, Chamber Marketing Manager Michele Stimatze, John Montgomery, Mark Edwards and Seitz.
The AUSA Meeting will kick off Sunday with the annual Army 10-Miler race and will last through next Wednesday.
