Chapman to Honor Adopt-A-School Unit with Military Appreciation Night Friday

To recognize and celebrate Chapman USD 473’s Adopt-A-School Unit from Fort Riley, the 5th Squadron 4th Cavalry Unit, the school will be holding a Military Appreciation night Friday during the Chapman High football game against Marysville.

Superintendent, Lacee Sell explained that anybody in uniform, or chapman black and white mascotshowing any type of ID with family will get in free.

“Then specifically at halftime our students are going to be re-signing the charters with the units, that’s just the unification of whatever school is signing with each of the Units,” said Sell. “And then we are going to be presenting a thankyou flag that is in representation of our partnership with the Big Red One, with the 5-4 CAV and then of course with USD 473.”

That flag will go with the 5-4 CAV on their upcoming deployment to the middle east.

The night will also include a visit from KS Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson, who will be assisting with the pre-game coin flip.

Other activities include the presentation of the banner for the CHS Softball teams 3rd place finish last year at the state tournament, and a special black out performance after the game by the marching band.

Friday’s game kicks off at 7 pm at the football complex on the east side of the Chapman Middle School.
