During Tuesday’s Hospital Board of Trustee’s meeting Jolana Montgomery-Matney, Executive Director of the Geary Community Healthcare Foundation presented a check worth $27,239 to go towards the upgrades of MAB I. That money was raised through the Fall Classic Golf Tournament held earlier this month.

Dr. Joe Stratton, GCH CEO explained that the upgrades to MAB I will essentially be a facelift.

“New furniture, new countertops and things in the hallway that we need to get done, a number of things that we need to get caught up on I guess you would say,” said Stratton. “It will make for a better patient care environment, and then a better environment for our employee’s to work in as well.”

Stratton went on to say that the Healthcare Foundation will be a “key” partner throughout the whole process.

The funds from the Fall Classic are only a portion of what the Healthcare Foundation is donating as the money raised at the Holiday Glitz coming up in December will also go towards the project.

“Hoping that in the end we’ll be able to have, minimum $75,000, to turnover,” said Montgomery-Matney.

Work on the project is expected to begin sometime after the first of the year.
