The Junction City Blue Jay boys soccer team scored two first half goals and made them stand up in a 2-1 win over Topeka West at Al Simpler Stadium.
Blue Jay coach Drew Proctor felt his team played well the first 20 minutes of the match. “We struggled a little bit after that. Our attack was mediocre at times, but the first 20 minutes we looked fantastic. We were hitting balls in behind, we winning every 50-50, we were pressing high, we were defending and attacking on both sides of the ball very well.”
After a water break due to the hot weather, Proctor noted the Blue Jays seemed to slow down a little bit.
Junction City, 2-5, will play at Topeka High on Tuesday.
