- The last time K-State held two straight opponents to a total of three points was back in 2002 following a 48-3 win over Western Kentucky to open the season and a 64-0 blanking of ULM the next week.
- A 100-yard kickoff return from Morgan Burns to open the 2015 season sparked the Cats in the opener and was believed to be the first return for a score to open a season.
