The Junction City High School Blue Jays will be headed to Emporia Friday night for week two of the season.

Junction City enters the game 1-0 after defeating Highland Park 56-14 at home last week. Emporia is 0-1 on the season following last week’s 21-0 loss to Washburn Rural.

Head Coach Randall Zimmerman explained what he’s expecting to see out of the Spartans.

“Offensively they’re going to force us to be very disciplined on the defensive side of the football. They’re going to run a lot of triple option stuff. A very smart quarterback, a very, very tough physical front and tough fullbacks, two of them that they rotate in,” said Zimmerman. “Defensively they just never are out of position, they’re always in position and they try to get you to snap the ball more often than what you want to and let you make mistakes. We’re going to have to be at our very best, that’s for sure, to play with them.”
