A LOOK AT K-STATE

  • Guided by 2015 College Football Hall of Fame inductee Bill Snyder, K-State opened the season with its first shutout since blanking Texas, 23-0, on October 25, 2014.
  • It also marked the third shutout for the Wildcats since Snyder returned in 2009 and also was the first shutout in a season opener since 1999.
  • The Cats held the Coyotes to just 61 rushing yards, as it marked the 21st time in the last 53 games they held opponents to less than 100 yards rushing.
  • A 100-yard kickoff return from Morgan Burns to open the game sparked the Cats in the opener and was believed to be the first return for a score to open a season.
  • Offensively, quarterback Joe Hubener stepped in for an injured Jesse Ertz and threw for 147 yards and a score while also rushing for 38 yards.

    NON-CON ROAD NOTES

  • In non-conference regular season road games under Bill Snyder, the Cats have won nine of their last 11, dating back to a 30-25 win at Minnesota in 1993.
  • Ironically, the win at Minnesota in 1993 is the last time K-State has won a game inside an enclosed stadium as the Cats have lost their last seven indoor games.
  • Overall, K-State is 9-8 in non-conference road games since 1989 and 9-6 during that span under Snyder.
  • Those nine wins included at Minnesota (1993), UNLV (1994), Cincinnati (1995), Rice (1996), Northern Illinois (1997), Southern California (2001), Marshall (2005), North Texas (2010) and Miami [Fla.] (2011).

NON-CONFERENCE NOTABLES

  • Since 1990, K-State has won 70 of its 79 (.886) regular-season non-conference games under Bill Snyder, including 61-of-65 (.938) at home.
  • K-State has had perfect regular season non-conference ledgers in 14 of the last 22 years.

SNYDER IN SEPTEMBER

  • Fast starts have propelled the Wildcats to winning seasons under Bill Snyder. Since 1992 under Snyder, K-State is a combined 60-7 (.896) in September.
  • Of the losses, four came on the road, as the Cats are 46-3 in September home games during that stretch.
  • Since Snyder’s return to the sidelines in 2009, K-State is 18-4 in the month of September.

SNYDER: HALL OF FAMER

  • The architect of the “greatest turnaround in the history of college football,” Bill Snyder was elected to the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame Induction Class of 2015.
  • Snyder is just fourth person in the history of college football to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as an active coach.

SNYDER AMONG BEST EVER

  • Head coach Bill Snyder currently has 188 career victories, which are 149 more than any other coach in program history.

YOUTH MOVEMENT

  • Also, a total of 22 freshmen or sophomores saw playing time in the 34-0 win over the Coyotes.
  • Three of the highlights for the young Cats were redshirt freshman fullback Winston Dimel, who scored two touchdowns, redshirt freshman Dominique Heath, who was electrifying on punt returns and at wide receiver, while redshirt freshman Dalton Risner starting at center.
