Blue Jay Football Practice Under Way

The Junction City Blue Jay football team has begun practice for the 2015 season.

Some of the team notes going into the first week of practice that have been covered by head coach Randall Zimmerman.

–David Graham was the early front runner at the center position on the offensive line. “David Graham obviously has the experience from last year. He played from the Manhattan game on at center, and did a really nice job.”

–Zach Terry at right tackle, Cameron Strahley at left tackle, are both back. At guard Kris Quidachay and Jacob Sticca return, but Zimmerman noted there are other hungry kids seeking playing time.

–Junior Ryan Henington was the no. 1 quarterback, but others could be in the mix. Two mentione by Zimmerman include John Adams and Logan Roether.

–Marcus Walker, Raye Wilson, Jovon Baldwin, Dai-Jon Lopez are in the mix at running back, and Cody Magee at tight end, Deshon Brooks, Dylan Collette, and Angeleau Scott at receiver.

–On defense 10 of 11 starters return….Arias Jones, Walter Wadford, Marquis Mitchell, Bradley Breckenridge, Trey Reynolds, Trae McDaniel, Stephon Starks, Darius Hicks, Tim Bell, Christian Ozores and Terrell Wilson.

–Punter and kicker jobs are open for competition.

–Zimmerman stresses there are numerous other young players who will vie for playing time for the Blue Jay varsity.

–The team will have a public scrimmage Saturday morning at Al Simpler Stadium at 9 a.m.

–The first game is Sept. 4 at Al Simpler Stadium against Highland Park.
