Irwin Army Community Hospital leadership will conduct a signing ceremony with its collective bargaining unit to promote the establishment of a tobacco-free campus on all Fort Riley medical facilities.

The ceremony is scheduled Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Hospital at 600 Caisson Hill Road on post.

The tobacco-free campus policy will impact the Hospital, plus the Fort Riley Dental Activity, Veterinary Services, and American Federation of Government Employees, Local 2324.

The policy will be implemented in a phased approach no sooner than 30 days after the signing ceremony. All designated smoking areas will be removed and tobacco products may only be used in privately owned vehicles during the initial phase at all Fort Riley medical facilities excluding the new hospital.

The initial phase will end upon final occupancy of the new hospital. At that time, any use of tobacco products will be prohibited at all medical facilities within defined campus boundaries.

IACH’s Occupational Health Clinic will provide tobacco cessation assistance to civilian personnel employed at Fort Riley medical facilities who want to quit using tobacco products.
