Ali Childs captured first place in the pole vault with a vault of 13’6 and Jaylene Brime finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 44’1′ for the Junction City Blue Jays on Friday at the Salina Central Invitational.
With those two athletes leading the way Junction City finished fourth out of 11 teams in the meet. The Blue Jays finished with 55 points, while team champion Manhattan had 108. Great Bend finished second with 89 points and Hutchinson third with 81.
In girls competition Manhattan won the meet with 115 pints while Junction City was seventh with 42 points.
Other highlights for the Blue Jay boys included a fourth place finish by Nick Arneson in the 3200 meter run in 10:33.86, fourth place finish by Bronson Hill in the long jump with a leap of 19’6″ Tracy Freeman fifth in the pole vault with a vault of 12’6,” Stephen Deveau fourth in the 1600 meter run in 4:38.95, Charles Winchester finished fifth in the 200 meter dash in 23.48, and Yves Cherubin was fifth in the 300 meter hurdles in 43.95.
For the Lady Jays Birona Jenson was second in the 1600 meter run in 5:41.62, Myrissa Humphreys second in t he 400 meter dash in 1:01.50, Alana Kramer fourth in the 300 meter hurdles in 49.66, and Brianna Pace third in the 800 meter run in 2:25.09.
