There is a consensus to have Junction City and the Geary County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau share the cost of new community wayward sign installation in 2016.

There is a proposal to install signs highlighting 20 destinations, ranging from City Hall and the C.L. Hoover Opera House to Fort Riley and North Park.

County and City Commissioners discussed the cost arrangement during a joint meeting on Monday. Florence Whitebread, Geary County Commissioner told JC Post, “That was the talk today. City and CVB go 50-50 on the signs because it is a tourism project really.”

The signs would be blue and white.

Greg McCaffrey,Junction City Municipal Services Director, provided a conservative cost estimate of $12,000 on the signs. Other destinations that could be highlighted would range from the Junction City Police Department and Municipal Court to Junction City High School and Rathert Stadium.
