Fire Chief Garry Berges reported they occurred about five to six miles southwest of Junction City near Latzke and Poland Roads where approximately 80 acres of a grass waterway burned.

Others included:

–A blaze near K-57 about five miles south of Grandview Plaza where a trash fire got out of control. Berges said one or two vehicles burned. More details are not yet available on that blaze.

–Clarks Creek Road west of the K-57 fire where a grass hillside burned. As of early Sunday evening it was still burning.

–Hannigan Road where a controlled burn grass fire got out of control. It was still burning early Sunday evening.

–And the fire site at Latzke and Poland Roads rekindled and had to be extinguished.

Berges reported assistance was requested from Grandview Plaza, Fort Riley, Dickinson County, Dwight, and Fort Riley Fire Departments to help fight the first three fires since they were occurring at the same time.  There were no injuries.
