The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth committees will
conduct a forum for the April 7 Junction City Commission elections.
It will be Saturday, March 14, 6:30 p.m. at the 12th Street Community Center.
According to Ronald Atkinson Jr., chair of the MLK Celebration Committee, and Delilah Hamilton, the purpose of the forum is to encourage community residents to hear from the candidates with regard to their respective positions on issues impacting Junction City.
The two organizations chose to conduct the forum to introduce members of the African – American community and others who are engaged with efforts to improve relationships with the city. Lack of diversity in city government has been discussed numerous times in the past.
Members are are also interested in hearing from the candidates about their thoughts on the fiscal austerity of the city, infrastructure and how it can be improved, and public safety.
