The Junction City High School Boys and Girls Bowling teams competed at the regional tournament Thursday in Lawrence.
The boys team qualified for the state tournament by finishing in
third place in what was an exciting finish according to Head Coach Brad Adams.
“The boy’s were seeded third behind Derby and Washburn Rural and we placed in third in front of Rural by one pin,” said Adams. “There were a lot of people double checking scores and going over everything. It’s nice to catch a break every once in awhile, and I think we caught one today.”
Junction City finished with a 2,588 total, behind Lawrence Free State who shot a 2,631 and Derby who finished with a 2,722.
Will Wriston had the high game for the tournament with a 278 and finished with a 696 series. He placed 1st in singles and will compete in both team and singles at state.
On the girls side the girls team missed out on making state by 33 pins, but did have two girls qualify in singles. Both Kaylee Stutz and Sam Goody will represent the Lady Jays at state.
The State Tournament will be held Friday, March 6th, at Northrock Lanes in Wichita.
