In recent years Chapman High School has been awarded a 2012 Governor’s Achievement Award, named a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School, and has now been recognized as a Model Professional Learning Community organization.

Chapman High School is one of less than 200 schools in the United States, and one of only seven in Kansas to receive the designation.

Laci Sell, USD 473 Superintendent, explained that the High School applied for the award after attending multiple PLC At  Work conferences. “And all of our schools have been working really hard on the PLC concept.” Sell also added, “Some workshops that we’ve been to, and some conferences, that the work at Chapman High School is exceptional.”

Sell noted they were encouraged to apply. That was done by Kevin Suther, Chapman High School Principal, and the staff.

On the latest honor Sell added, “We like to call it another feather in the cap.”
