Senator Jerry Moran said there is a buzz about what happened in Junction City with the recent Army
Community Listening Session.
Moran’s comments to JC Post followed his recent conversations with Army officials after the listening session. He noted the attendance of 4,203 people was three times the number at sessions at other bases. “It’s my understanding that there were 15-hundred at Fort Campbell and only 300 at Fort Carson.” The Senator added that has to have caught the attention of people.
Moran noted he didn’t want to indicate that Army decisions are based solely on the number of people who attend a meeting. “But I do know that the Army wants to know that they are appreciated, supported, and that the soldiers and families who are stationed at any particular facility have the love and care of those who surround them. And we’ve demonstrated that time and time again.”
Vehicles from 16 counties were tabulated in the parking lot at the Geary County Convention Center during the listening session where the public had an opportunity to a Pentagon panel gathering information on Fort Riley to be considered during upcoming decisions are Army troop strength at military installations across the nation.
