After about 16 months worth of work the Chapman Food Mart is ready to open on Monday, February 16th.
Doug Thompson of Chapman began working on bringing a grocery
store to Junction City a little more than 16 months ago when he decided to put one on his land on the north side of Chapman in the Kansas Auto Racing Complex.
Thompson explained that it took so long because the property was in a flood plain and they had to go through some flood permits,”that took multiple months to get done, but it got done.”
The store will be managed by Kenny and Ann Bush of Solomon who also own and operate Bush’s Market.
“They’re very successful experienced at running grocery stores in small towns and they’ve been very successful, there’s been a Bush’s Market in Solomon for probably 40 years.”
The store will feature a deli and fresh meat market.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting has been scheduled for February 21st.
