Monday is a big day for the Fort Riley region.

The Army Community Listening Session is scheduled at the Geary County Convention Center from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. There will also be a Fort Riley Appreciation Event outside the convention center, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The public is encouraged to attend and show support for Fort Riley.
Tom Weigand, Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce CEO, explained the public is encouraged to arrive by 2:30. “And be there when the party arrives from Fort Riley to show our support, they see it when going in, and then we fill up the convention center. Listen to what they have to say, and then tell them how we support and how we integrate the Army into our communities in the central Flint Hills.”
The listening session comes as the Army prepares to downsize. The information gathered during listening sessions at installations across the country will be used to help determine future troop strength at those installations.
