There could be an economic boost for Junction City.

Municipal Services Director Greg McCaffrey said he recently received notice from the Kansas Department of Agriculture. “That we are going to be able to increase our water rights by about 35 percent in the near future.”

McCaffrey said Junction City has been pushing the City’s limits on water rights the last several years. He called the additional water rights huge for the community.

He noted the well field at the water plant site will be enhanced, and that expansion is possible due to the water rights that have been granted.
