City Commission to Consider Option to Purchase Agreement on City-Owned Lot

junction city symbolGary Hassenflu wants to develop a senior independent living project at Tenth and Washington in Junction City.

Tuesday night the Junction City Commission will consider an option to purchase agreement for the site, a city-owned lot.

City Manager Allen Dinkel said Hassenflu is applying for a tax credit housing program, and has identified the downtown site for a proposed multiple – level residential complex. “He needs to have control of the property, so what the recommendation is if they wish to do that, is that he would get an option to buy from the City and then he would have a few months to exercise that option. Of course that would let him know if the tax credits were approved.”

The sale price for the land would be $75,000.

Dinkel noted the question will be whether that is a good use for the land. “And that’s what the Commission needs to do.” Dinkel added, “Studies have shown that there is need for housing of that type. The question of course is that the right location?

The Commission meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Junction City Municipal Building.
