King Ceremony Includes Homage to Ruby Stevens

Ted Stevens characterized his mother as a life long learner as he spoke during the Martin Luther King ted stevens oneJr. celebration in Junction City.

Ruby Stevens started the King Day celebrations in Junction City 30 years ago.

With his mother in the audience Ted Stevens talked about a lesson he learned from her.

“If you’re courageous enough to start something, be committed to give all that you are and all that you have to see it through.” Stevens added, “You don’t look for followers. Followers will come if you believe in yourself, you trust in God, and whatever your purpose is, it is grounded in faith, integrity, and sincerity.”

Ruby Stevens suffers from Alzheimers.

She can no longer coordinate the local ceremony, but was able to be in attendance with family members.
