The CEO for the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce Tom Weigand will retire February 27.

The announcement was made following a Chamber Board of Directors executive session meeting Thursday.

Weigand said he will attend the annual Chamber banquet to say his good-byes.  On his retirement, Weigand said it had been discussed since last September. “We agreed the end of February would be a good time for both myself and the organization. ”

Weigand said he felt good about his time with the Chamber, which dates back to May of 2012. “It’s been a great community to work in. It’s been a great organization to put together. I think that whoever succeeds me in this position will find a real opportunity to make a difference.  Weigand called it a rewarding experience for him.

Ty Arneson, Chairman of the Chamber Board, noted Weigand has done a lot of good things for the Chamber. “We appreciate all of his work, and wish him well in whatever he chooses to do.”

The formal approval of Weigand’s retirement will be on the agenda for the Chamber Board of Directors meeting January 28.
