In an effort to protect its patients, visitors, and employees during the influenza season, Geary Community Hospital implemented visitor restrictions on Tuesday. They will be in effect until further notice.
According to Nikki Davies, GCH Marketing and Public Relations Specialist, they are reiterating to the public they are just using safety precautions. “Make sure you wash your hands, good hygiene, especially when visiting patients at the hospital. ” Davies also added, “We are still fully functioning. We’re all still operating, just wanted to remind everybody to use common sense during the flu season.”
On those who should not visit the hospital Davies said, “If you have symptoms or if you have the flu, if you are ill those are the folks we are advising to stay away until they are fully recovered. ” Also, children under 12 years of age should not visit.
Davies noted there is no quarantining or any action of that sort.
Visitors are asked to wash their hands often, before entering a patient room and prior to leaving the facility. Sinks and waterless hand sanitizer are available throughout the building.
