The month of December was wetter and warmer in Geary County.

Chuck Otte, Geary County Extension Agent, is out with his monthly weather report.

The average daily high during the month was 41.9, nine-tenths of a degree above normal. the aerage overnight low was 27.6, 6.4 degrees above normal. that provided a monthly mean temperature of 34.8, 3.7 degrees above normal.

The highest temperature during the month was 58 degrees on the 14th and 15th.

With only two measurable rainfall events in November, it wasn’t going to take too much for December to be wetter. Normal December precipitation is 1.02 inches.  Milford Lake received 0.74 inches of precipitation in December, and Junction City 1.56 inches. One measurable snowfall event in the month brought 2.5 inches of snow, slightly below the long term average of 3.7 inches.
