GCH Implements Visitor Restrictions

gch logoThe flu outbreak in Junction City is prompting Geary Community Hospital to implement new restrictions on visitors to the hospital.

Harold Marion, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, said the flu is in full swing. He noted that case numbers are substantially higher than in recent years. “We are restricting visitors to the patient area. We’re restricting it to close family members. We’re restricting children under the age of 12 from visiting at all. We’re asking people who have shown any signs of illness or the flu such cough, runny nose, fever, muscle aches and fatigue to not visit. ” Marion added if you’ve had those symptoms you will be asked to wear a mask while you visit the hospital.

People with compromised immune systems or pulmonary complications should visit only if absolutely necessary.

Compassionate exceptions to the restrictions may be warranted, and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
