January 12 Listening Session Scheduled at Fort Riley

A listening session that is part of the Army’s programmatic environmental assessment is Fort Riley
scheduled for January 12 at Fort Riley.

John Armbrust, Executive Director of the Governor’s Military Affairs Council, said the sessions are designed for community members to talk about their “knowledge and investment partnership with the installation.”

Armbrust noted the economic importance of Fort Riley to the region and state will be acknowledged. “But I hope that at the end of the day we can point out that we are well aware of what the real mission is on Fort Riley, of the 1st Infantry Division and other units, and that we understand its’ military value, and have been a partner in making investments in housing, in schools, and roads and airports and those kind of things that have a direct impact on the ability of Fort Riley to accomplish its mission cost effectively.”

The assessment information that is gathered could possibly be used to help future force reductions and strength at Army installations around the country.
