A community peace walk in memory of the late Lorraine Walker, former principal of Washington Elementary School, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday Nov. 8 at the Al Simpler Stadium / Track.

Participants can walk or run anytime during the set hours. Contributions from the walk will be used to support the events and scholarship fund of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee.

Lorraine Walker, local educator, was at the time of her passing, chair of the local Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee. Participants will co-join with members of the Walker family, friends, and colleagues for a time of celebration and remembrance in the spirit of unity. Suggested peace walk donations are $10 for adults, and any amount for students, businesses, and community groups are welcome.
