A senior consultant with the Austin Peters Group, Marla Flentje told the Commission Tuesday night the process can be done in a two-day period. “I’ve seen governing bodies interview four candidates , two-a-day, putting them through all the paces that we’ve described.

During a discussion with Flentje the elected officials determined the candidates would each participate in a public community forum, take tours of City facilities and the community, meet with City department heads, have lunch, and do panel interviews in the evenings with the Commission.

Mayor Mike Ryan confirmed all three of the candidates are from outside of Junction City.

The governing body is seeking to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Gerald Smith, who stepped down after an angry backlash from the community over the form of presentation,  and the ideas contained in his State of the City address to deal with the City’s debt and other issues.
