Instead of an assistant director the Geary County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will advertise for a marketing manager.

CVB Director Connie Hall confirmed that decision after the monthly CVB Board meeting.  The organization will move in that direction in filling the vacancy created by the recent resignation of former Assistant Director Rick Dykstra.

Hall noted the marketing manager position will have an emphasis on convention sales. “One of the things we really need to do is keep up on the convention market. The CVB does have a vested interest along with the city and county in the convention center, and we need to make sure that we’re getting our share of conventions in the area. It is something that needs some really good heavy emphasis.”

The CVB, City, and County all contribute funds annually to retire the bonds on the convention center.
