Local Leaders Take Issues to Washington D.C.

The recent trip to the nation’s capital by local leaders from Junction City and Geary Countycheryl beatty allowed them to visit with military officials, and also congressional staffers for the representatives from Kansas.

Cheryl Beatty, Interim City Manager, stated topics discussed ranged from the problems with blue green algae at Milford Lake and housing at Fort Riley, to transportation needs.

Congressional staffers ask want the local officials want them to support. “And then they do what they can to do support.” That’s exactly how we got the fire engine ( new ladder track ) approved. We asked for their support on the grant funds. They did, and that’s how our community got a new fire truck for very little money.”

The approval for the truck came before this year.

City and County officials made the trip to Washington D.C. for the annual Association of the United States Army convention, and then also took time to meet with members of different Congressional staffs from Kansas.
