The Speaker of the Kansas House, Ray Merrick, Republican, was in Junction City on Thursday

to endorse Lonnie Clark, Republican, Junction City, in the race for the 65th District seat in the Kansas House of Representatives. He attended a meet and greet for Clark at Coach’s Grill and Bar.
Merrick told JC Post he has read a lot about Clark, and felt he would be a good member of the Republican caucus. ” Him being a Marine really sticks out. I always hold my fellow Marines in high esteem, and I know what I’m getting when I get a Marine. ”
Merrick said he thought Clark would be a good fit in the House. “We’re going to have a lot of new members, especially in the Republican caucus.” Merrick added Clark’s service in the Marine Corp is to him a validation of some leadership skills. Concerning possible committee service if Clark elected, the House Speaker said Clark has a background in education, health, military, and management, and would fit in many places.
Clark is running for the 65th District seat against Democrat Tom Brungardt.
