Kansas Legislature Will Focus on Budget in January

The Kansas State Legislature will reconvene in January and will be challenged with the task of balancing the states fiscal year 2015 budget.

By the end of the fiscal year 2014, the budget saw a shortfall of nearly jc post$700 million, and that shortfall is expected to continue to increase as the states revenue continues to decrease and expenses increase.

Tom Brungardt, Democratic Candidate for the 65th District House of Representatives explained that he believes that the legislature is going to have to look into stopping the current tax policy that calls for continued cuts to income tax.

“I think that, that could in some ways help a little bit. Whether or not that would be enough, I don’t know I would have to see the numbers whether that would help or not,” says Brungardt.

Brungardt is being challenged in the November 4th election by Republican candidate Lonnie Clark.
